I’ve been playing around with the StoryNexus game Fallen London for the past few days, and have been enjoying it quite a bit.

Fallen London is a giant choose your own adventure style game.   You have stats and attributes and items, which open up different actions and possibilities.  Do something, succeed or fail, and enjoy or endure the results.  In-game actions are limited in nature – you have up to 10 available at a time, and they refresh at a rate of about 1 every 10 minutes.

The game world is a pseudo-Victorian vaguely-Steampunkish comically-horrific underground-stranded London, and you get to play around at being wisely observant, decadently persuasive, criminally shadowy, or dangerously violent.

I’m not sure how long I’ll be playing – the game world is huge, having been developed for several years, but the gameplay is quite basic and requires a fair bit of click-grinding over the same few actions to make progress.

They’re also running a Kickstarter for what looks like a really cool little game – Sunless Sea.  Check it out.
